E.O. Kreiner and C.J. Wold were brought to Superior last week by Deputy Sheriff Hugh Mills. They are charged with illegally having venison in their possession. At their trial in Municipal Court, Wold pleaded guilty and took four months in jail in preference to paying $100 fine. Mr. Kreiner pleaded not guilty and his case was continued to procure witnesses from here. C.J. Akerlind and Ed. L. Peet are subpoennaed to attend the trial and furnish evidence. They leave tomorrow. The Editor of our contemporary [i.e. the rival Journal] is said to be a connoisseur in the art of not being able to distinguish venison when he eats it. He is called to attest the alleged genuiness of "mountain goat" meat which was served him on a recent trip up river. We have heard unconfirmed rumors that Bro. Peet has difficulty in distinguishing between venison out of season and a more popular salt meat that comes in barrels.
