This photo is dated 1909 and was taken by studio photographer Peter Carlson of Grantsburg.

The young man in the middle of the back row, in fact the only young man in the photograph, is Arthur L. Myrland, who would have been 18. The woman with the hat and parasol on the far right is his mother, Lena B. (Anderson) Myrland. The woman sitting on the ground third from the right is labeled "Miss Strasedill" or something close to that. The handwriting is a little hard to read. If anyone can add other people's names, identify the building (possibly a school or church) or suggest a reason for the gathering (i.e. why my great-uncle is the only young male in the picture) please contact me at harnisch@news.latimes.com or lmharn@ix.netcom.com.
