From Did You Know It?
Mark Andrews came down last Saturday morning from Sinclair's camp in a demented condition. He had run all the way and was under the impression that someone desired his life.

He stayed at Perry Hickerson's hotel Saturday and Saturday night but on Sunday afternoon Marshal Ekenberg with the aid of several men had to take him to the jail. He could not be examined on Monday because it was a holiday. On Monday night as the marshal was out after wood, Mark, who was in the corridor, put on the former's coat and, taking a jackknife that was in the pocket, struck the marshal, who grappled him, twice in the face, inflicting two bad wounds.

The two men kept on struggling all the way to the rink, where several men were called out of the hall and assisted to bring him back to the jail.

On Tuesday forenoon he was examined as to his sanity and was adjudged insane and ordered committed to Mendota. Sheriff Peterson and Deputy Sheriff Jensen returned Tuesday from Mendota and the former took charge of Andrews.

Yesterday forenoon he was in the corridor again and attacked the sheriff with a chamber [presumably a chamber pot] and in the fracas the latter got his hand cut. The sheriff and B.O. Dahlberg took the man to Mendota yesterday.
