SANDS & ASTLEY'S CIRCUS
T he choice aggregation of gamblers, toughs and doubtful characters that exhibited here last Thursday drew a far bigger crowd than they deserved. One-tenth of what was advertised was not exhibited.

Their "rare zoological collection" consisted of a score of condemned horses, half a dozen mangy dogs, a snake, two moth-eaten bears and a wildcat.

However, some of the "startling and sensational feats of daring" were well-performed, and the horses and dogs did fairly well. The biggest money-makers were the side shows, where suckers were unmercifully fleeced.

Were it not a doubtful advertisement for the place we would mention some of the worthy gentlemen who were "skinned," some of the traitors who acted as "cappers," and the indifference of those whose power it was to stop the gambling.
