From "Did You Know It?"
Last Saturday evening a number of friends and relatives went out to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Branstad on a surprise party, and reminded them of the 31st anniversary of their wedding. As a memory of the occasion a solid silver coffee set was presented to the honored guests.

A social and most pleasant time was had at which all the old settlers told some stories that to us sound like fairy tales. Mr. Branstad himself told in an interesting manner stories from the war [ that is, the Civil War ] and his boyhood days and also related some short stories from Burnett's early days.

Ole said that at the time he wanted to get married there were only three marriageable girls in the whole county and he secured the prettiest and best of the trio. The event will long be remembered by those who participated. Mr. Branstad has always lived an honorable life and having received all the glory that resonably belongs to him, is now retired on his beautiful homestead, 2 1/2 miles south of the village.
