Please be respectful of other campers keeping a minimum of 200 feet between your party and another valid camping permit holder.

A camping permit is required and may either be obtained online by clicking here, or by coming into or calling the Forest & Parks Department.  Permits may be purchased at any time during the calendar year of the intended use dates.

- Firewood permits can be issued to Burnett County residents and landowners to cut dead or down trees on Burnett County Forest Land for personal home use only, and not for resale.  Permits may be purchased for a minimum of 4 cords and up to 10 cords; only one permit may be issued per household per permit period. The current price is $8.00 per cord.

Any member of the Wisconsin Bands of the Lake Superior Chippewa Indians may also apply for firewood gathering rights under this permit system.  There is no fee assessed for this gathering right, but all other restrictions of the firewood permit do apply.  These permits are unable to be issued online and must be obtained by calling or coming into the Forest & Parks Department during regular business hours.

Permits may be purchased beginning July 1 of each year with an expiration date of March 31.  There is no cutting allowed April 1-June 30 every year primarily due to Oak Wilt located in the county.
