The majority of winter is spent performing snow plowing and ice control operations. We also produce winter treating products such as salt/sand and perform woody vegetation removal.

The Highway Department is responsible, under the direction of the Infrastructure Committee, for all county trunk highways. It is the duty of this Department to assess and make all necessary decisions for the establishment, construction, improvement, engineering, and maintenance of these highways.
Under Chapter 83 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, the County is responsible for the maintenance of 220 miles of county roadways and 233 lane miles of State roadways.

Department Goals
Our goals are to increase the overall quality, ensure safety of county highways while reducing overall  maintenance costs by researching and implementing new technology in equipment and road maintenance methods.
