On-the-Job Training Program
The Office of Veterans Services, through the Department of Labor NEG-OJT Grant, is offering employers a wage reimbursement program for on-the-job-training for qualified veteran candidates.
What does this mean to you as a veteran jobseeker? The Veteran’s Representatives at your local Wisconsin Job Centers can certify you as an OJT eligible veteran if you meet certain eligibility requirements. In return, you can use this certification as an incentive for employers to hire you as you apply for positions within Wisconsin. The program is designed to help you attain a position for which you may otherwise lack the skills necessary for the job. All you need to do is inform the prospective employer that they may be eligible for a 50% - 90% wage reimbursement for up to 6 months if they consider hiring you. Agreements must be made prior to a job offer.
Below are a few of the requirements to be an OJT eligible veteran. Please contact a Veteran’s Representative at your local job center to further explain the eligibility requirements.
- Must have been laid off on or after January 1, 2008.
- Must have experienced a period of unemployment of at least 18.2 weeks.
- Be considered a dislocated worker. Vet Reps will help you receive this status.
- Be a veteran.
