Burnett County currently leases 5,000 acres of County-owned land to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). These lands, named the Namekagon Barrens Wildlife Area, are located in the Northeastern portion of the County. These lands maintain the brush prairie and pine barrens type habitat.
