STATE-FUNDED SUMMER USE
ATV TRAIL RULES

Enforceable by Burnett County Ordinance 03-02

1. Only registered machines meeting the state definition of an ATV are allowed on the trail system, defines as; (an engine-driven device which has a net weight of 900 ponds or less, which has a width of 48 inches or less, which is equipped with a seat designed to be straddled by the operator and which is designed to travel on 3 or more low-pressure tires. A low-pressure tire is a tire which has a minimum width of 6 inches, which is designed to be mounted on a rim with a maximum diameter of 12 inches and which is designed to be inflated with an operating pressure not to exceed 6 pounds per square inch as recommended by the manufacture.)

2. The state-funded summer use trail system is open from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through September 15, all other trails are closed to ATV's, ORV's, and Motorcycles during this time. After September 15, trails on the Burnett County Forest are open for use by ALL registered or licensed motor vehicles.

3. The white blazers indicate the summer use trail system.

4. Your ATV must be equipped with a U.S. Forest Service tested, and approved spark arrestor. This arrestor shall be properly maintained and in effective working order.

5. The trail system may be closed by County or State emergency fire regulations or when the WDNR wild fire danger is posted at the RED FLAG ALERT.

Remember these trails are a privilege not a right, and these privileges can be lost forever if riders do not follow the rules.
