DNR GRANT SPONSORSHIP - Dave Ferris
*Two issues have arisen with regards to applications for DNR Grants:
1.) Lake Associations/Districts are not eligible for state funds unless they have a public access to the water.
2.) The Aquatic Invasive Species Program is prioritized to distribute funds first to government, then to lake associations. Due to this, some lake associations may not be able to acquire funds to work on invasives. One option is to have the County sponsor the grant for the work to be done at a specific lake. Motion by Wayne Burmeister/2nd Jim Engelhart to allow the LWCD to sponsor projects as presented by Lake Associations in order to acquire grant funds through the DNR. Motion carried.
