Edgar Peterson, chairman, called the November 15, 2004 meeting of the Land Committee to order at 8:45 a.m. in Room 163 at the Burnett County Government Center. Land Committee Members present: Ed Peterson, Larry Main and Phil Lindeman. Others present: Helen Steffen, County Clerk; Joanne Pahl, Treasurer; Judy Dykstra, Deputy County Clerk.

Larry Main made a motion, second by Ed Peterson, to accept the minutes of the September 14, 2004 Land Committee meeting. Motion carried.

Ed Peterson informed the committee no one bid at the November 13th auction. Phil Lindeman made the motion to hold the property until spring, second by Larry Main. Motion carried. (PIN 131-2600-53300 - a parcel of land located in the NW ¼ NW ¼, Section 14, Township 38 North, of Range 19 West).

Helen presented the request of Harold Brooks to cancel his land contract with Burnett County. Although it was disclosed in our sales brochure this was unbuildable land, Mr. Brooks was trying to get a sanitary system put in so he could have his camper there. The sanitary system was denied. The county will retain the down payment of $1,625.00 received on November 12, 2003.

The land contract is dated November 12, 2003 and recorded as Document 363144 for Lot 1 of Certified Survey Map, Map #971, Volume 4, pages 317 and 318, as recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds for Burnett County, Wisconsin. Said Certified Survey Map being located in Government Lot 2, 8-38-16.

Dave Grindell, Corporation Counsel, has recommended a title check to make sure there are no liens before we accept the property on a Quit Claim Deed from Harold Brooks. Larry Main made a motion, second by Phil Lindeman, to cancel the land contract with Harold Brooks by accepting a Quit Claim Deed to the property, subject to the results of the title check. Motion carried.
