The regular meeting of the Burnett County Highway Committee convened on Wednesday, June 8, 2005. The meeting was called to order at 8 a.m. by Chairman, Larry Main. Also present were Eldon Freese, Bert Lund Jr., Commissioner Morehouse, Jeff Scanlon, Sheila Bristol and Chet Newman (Sentinel).

There were no appearances by the public.

The minutes of the May regular meeting were approved on a Freese/Lund motion. Motion carried.

The Commissioner informed the committee that 2004 final closing numbers were just received Monday from the auditors. After reviewing these numbers he plans on meeting with Lynn to set aside carryover funds into a Capital Improvement Program account as previously authorized by this committee.

The following Facility Updates were discussed by the Commissioner:

Water and Sewer Process

· A meeting with Cheryl Flor, PE with SEH is still pending.
· The Commissioner is still pursuing annexation.

Telephone System

· Need for modernization of present system with voicemail, intercom, etc.
· Burnett County Government Center Maintenance Supervisor Faught received authorization from the Property Committee to:

o Transfer the telephone/voicemail assets to the Highway Department.
o Perform the work required in the installation process.

Security System

· Need to review our present services with ADT.

Office Flooring

· Present carpet wearing out-tearing in spots-disaster pending.
· Need to obtain replacement figures for 2006 budget.

An Open Project Status Report for June was dispersed and reviewed, see attached.

State Projects

· Crack filling STH-48 is complete.
· Shoulder Repair STH-77 (Danbury to WCL) is now complete.
· Crack filling project in process.
· DNR-Namekagon Barrens Wildlife Area road repairs have began.
· Waiting for State bid results on salt prices for upcoming season. Prices are expected to be up substantially.

Township Projects

· Anderson Twsp. (Bucklund Road) is complete.
· Sand Lake's Whistler Road will be completed this week.
· Starting work in Swiss next.
· A couple more Township projects are pending.

County Projects

· CTH U-should be paved next week.
· CTH X- construction is complete-to be paved next week.
· CTH C-cancelled due to lack of funds in the 2005 budget.

An Equipment Status/Condition report was given by Commissioner Morehouse.

· Unit #511-router cutting wheel had to replaced.
· Unit #186-water tank should be done this week.
· Single Axle-should take delivery next week.
· Tri-axle-anticipated delivery in August.

Commissioner Morehouse and the entire Highway Committee plan on attending the Summer Conference next week, June 13-15th. The Commissioner commented that this is not the ordinary conference. Much planning has taken place to ensure a full agenda.

June vouchers in the amount of $186,805.50 were presented for payment. There was a motion by Freese/Lund to authorize and confirm all vouchers presented for payment. Motion carried.

The next regular meeting of the Burnett County Highway Committee will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2005 at 8:00 a.m.
