The Board of Canvassers met on February 19, 2004, at 8:30 a.m. at the Burnett County Government Center, Room 163. Present: Clerk Helen Steffen, Betty Anderson, Barbara Johnson. The returns of the Spring Primary and Presidential Preference Vote prepared by the municipal Election Inspectors were reviewed. Based on the returns, the Board prepared the summary statement and certification of the results. The following discrepancies in procedure were noted:
Town of Anderson
Ballot bag was tied in such a manner that access to the ballots was possible.
Town of Dewey
Ballot bag was tied in such a manner that access to the ballots was possible.
Both copies of poll list were returned to County Clerk.
Town of Grantsburg
Number of last voter on poll list was not indicated on the tally sheet.
Town of Lincoln
Election Inspectors initialed rather than signed their names on tally sheet, voter list, ballot bag, etc. (Initials are adequate if names are also typed or printed.)
Town of Meenon
Ballot bag was tied in such a manner that access to the ballots was possible.
Town of Roosevelt
Ballot bag was tied in such a manner that access to the ballots was possible.
Town of Sand Lake
Ballot bag was tied in such a manner that access to the ballots was possible.
Number of last voter on poll list was not indicated on the tally sheet.
Town of Scott
Highest voter number on registration list was not indicated on the tally sheet.
Town of Trade Lake
Poll list and Inspector's Statement identified voter numbers of those voting on sample or copied ballots. To protect confidentiality, the time and voter number when the use of alternate ballots began should be listed in the Inspector's Statement. Notation not necessary on poll list.
Town of Wood River
All forms were completed in pencil. Signatures, in particular, should be in ink.
Village of Grantsburg
