UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Strategic Planning:
Kornmann facilitated the strategic planning session focused on action plans addressing the four key issues identified at the March meeting. The participants brainstormed and discussed the action plans as follows:

How do we control our own budget?

· Communicate better with the county board by presenting an annual report to the county board.
· Through a budget request, ask for what BCDA wants funded, not the county

Ho do we involve more board members?

· Ask absent board members why they are not participating
· Ask absent board members what they would like to see BCDA work on (specific projects)
· Develop action oriented tasks
· Begin working in committees

How do we involve people outside of the board?

· Create membership as outlined in the by-laws
· Create a members list
· Create a business resource list
· Hold Business After Five events'

o Bring a friend/business colleague theme
o Develop a program/ice breaker to introduce people (no more than 5 - 10 minutes)

How do we market the county?

· Join Forward Wisconsin and participate in their business recruitment effort
· Continue with the Work and Play campaign
· Utilize the web and create ad banners on the website (could this be a benefit of being a BCDA member? Could a package deal be created that includes being a member and ad space on the web page?)

Northwest Regional Planning Commission Report:
John Strochine gave his report and discussed a spin off business from Ultra Tool that will be located in the Grantsburg Enterprise Center. Another new start up will be locating in the Siren Enterprise Center.
