OLD BUSINESS:

Strategic Planning:
Michael Kornmann reviewed what was accomplished at last month's meeting. Kornmann then noted that nine to twelve more hours of work are needed in order to complete the strategic plan. The problem posed was how would these hours be put in with a good showing of members for input when it is hard to get members together for a regular meeting. It was decided to have the next meeting on March 3 at 3:00 p.m. instead of 3:30 p.m. to allow a longer time to work on the strategic plan without the meeting getting any later than usual.

The Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 beginning at 11:00 a.m., lunch at 12 noon and adjournment around 1:00 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS:

Nominations:
Mark Crowl made an inquiry as to how many members should be on the BCDA Board. Mike Kornmann explained the representation that determined the number of members on the Board.

Kornmann announced the Village of Webster has nominated Steve Zelinski to continue to represent that Village on the BCDA Board. Kornmann has requested written confirmation from the Villages of Grantsburg and Siren as to who they want to represent them on the BCDA Board. So far, no response has been received.

John Stroschine Report:
John Stroschine reported the information from McNally's has been submitted for a Customized Labor Training application, which pays for training of existing employees. Stroschine is also planning to put in a Tech Zone application for McNally's.

Stroschine stated Ultra Tool is looking for opportunities for the employees. It was also noted that the Department of Commerce has shifted representatives. The representative is now going to reside in Danbury.

Mike Kornmann noted that the UWEX Business Agent, Hans Hanson, was at the Government Center and did some training on starting your own business. Northwest CEP also provided some services.

Mike Kornmann also updated the Committee on the Superior Days session held on January 23. Lodging tax has been listed as an issue for the Counties Association.

Kornmann gave some information on businesses in Burnett County and their stand on room tax, which generated a discussion.
