CALL TO ORDER:

Meeting called to order by Ted Gerber at 3:30 pm in Room 165 of the Burnett County Government Center on December 3, 2003.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Motion to approve the November 5, 2003 minutes made by Ed Peterson; seconded by Tom Berg. Motion carried.

VOUCHERS & FINANCIAL REPORT:

Motion made by Tom Berg to approve vouchers totaling $948.70 and a check written to Nancy Herman in the amount of $420.00; seconded by John Richards. Motion carried.

Michael Kornmann presented the Financial Report.

OLD BUSINESS:

Marketing Inserts:

Michael Kornmann circulated a draft for final inspection. Four colors will be used on glossy paper. The final product will be put on the internet. Kornmann announced 250 copies may be received as soon as next week.

Nominations for Village Representatives:

Michael Kornmann stated he will be sending out a request to each village president to submit the name of the representative for that village.

The members present discussed the importance of Village representatives to attend meetings.

Superior Days

Michael Kornmann announced the issues forum at Superior a week from today at the Rothham Lounge. Kornmann everyone to try to come up with issues for the entire region.
Kornmann and Melissa Olson, along with 10 high school students, will attend. Anyone else interested in attending Superior Days should make room reservations for February 23 – 26 ASAP. Kornmann said there should be a good idea of which issues will be chosen by the next BCDA meeting. This generated a discussion on whether room tax will be seen as an issue for Northwest Wisconsin, Sawyer and Washburn Counties.

Northwest Regional Planning Commission

John Stroschine reported working with McNally’s. A prospect data sheet is needed and to do an application for state funding.

Stroschine also reported Burnett Dairy submitted an application for a grant program for cooperatives. Funds will be used to help diversify use of their products. The expansion will create about fifteen more jobs.

Stroschine is also talking with businesses in Siren and Grantsburg Enterprise Center.

Any Other Old Business

No other old business was presented.

NEW BUSINESS:

Contract for Grant Services with Northwest Regional Planning Commission & Voucher:

Michael Kornmann presented the contract for grant services. Kornmann also presented a voucher for the grant ($3,500) to cover technical assistance for work done on the Burnett Dairy contract.

Motion made by John Richards to approve payment of the voucher for $3,500; seconded by Stan Peer. Motion carried.

Motion made by Stan Peer to approve the contract for John Stroschine to do technical work for the Burnett Dairy Project; seconded by Tom Berg. Motion carried.

Contract for web page services – Webpenguin:

Michael Kornmann explained the contract for 2004 is the same contract as previous years. The contract is for 50 hours, with extra hours tacked on in October. This should be fine for 2004, but will probably have contract more hours in 2005.

Stan Peer would like to find out the sponsors and to determine what the benefits are for Burnett County. Discussion on changing sponsors page.

Motion made by John Richards to approve contract as is; seconded by Ed Peterson. Motion carried.
