County Ag/Extension Committee Meeting

Minutes
I. The meeting was called to order by Charles Peterson at 10:45 am in Room 165 of the Burnett County Government Center on Monday, November 7, 2005.
Notice was posted according to open meeting law requirements.
Present: Charles Peterson, Gene Olson, Mary Falk, Douglas Stubbe, Marilyn Kooiker, Marleen Seul (recorder).
II. Motion to approve the September 19, 2005 minutes made by Gene Olson; seconded by Mary Falk. Motion carried. There were no official minutes from October, 2005 due to no meeting.
III. General Business:
Bill payment sheet and employee expense vouchers were submitted to the Committee. Motion to approve and sign made by Gene Olson; seconded by Mary Falk. Motion carried.
A. Department Head Report
1. 2006 Budget Update
The 2006 Budget has been approved by Finance. Next the County Board will ratify the budget as a whole. Mileage reimbursement has been raised to 48.5 cents per mile until December 31, 2005, when the rate will again be set. It was noted postage will be going up to 39 cents in January.2. A date change for monthly meetings was discussed. The first Mondays of each month are free; no other committees are scheduled for those dates and that date would be well before the Finance Committee meeting so bills would be approved to be paid on time instead of being a month behind.Motion made by Mary Falk to change the committee meetings to the first Monday of each month at 10:00 am; seconded by Gene Olson. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be held on December 5 and will also be the date for the annual pot luck, which is to follow the committee meeting.
3. Secretarial Position:
Half time position hiring notice posted October 31 - November 4.Additional Comments:

Kooiker's report included information on meetings and conferences attended in October and teachings which included assisting Julie Yezek with a Fight BAC(teria) puppet show at Mina Copeland Head Start.WNEP - Julie Yezek
A written report of Yezek's activities was presented by Marilyn Kooiker.3. 4-H Youth Development - Doug Stubbe
Stubbe's monthly report included information on Achievement Night on October 21 and the 4-H Leaders Association annual meeting, where Craig Bowman was elected the new president and Melissa Olson was elected the new treasurer.Music Contest was held on November 4; there were 32 entries.
There was discussion on having youth attend Committee meetings or County Board meetings for learning experience on how government works.
IV. Set Next Meeting Date
Next meeting date set for Monday, December 5, 2005 in Room 165 of the Burnett
County Government Center. The Annual Pot Luck will be held at 12 Noon, or immediately
following the meeting.
