Minutes
I. The meeting was called to order by Charles Peterson at 9:30 am in Room 165
of the Burnett County Government Center on Monday, April 18, 2005.
Notice was posted according to open meeting law requirements.
Present: Charles Peterson, Mary Falk, Gene Olson, Douglas Stubbe, Mike Kornmann, Kathy Miller, John Haack, Grace Gee, Marleen Seul.
II. Motion to approve vouchers made by Gene Olson; seconded by Mary Falk. Motion carried.
III. Motion to approve the March 21, 2005 minutes made by Gene Olson; seconded by Mary Falk. Motion carried.
IV. General Business:
Department Head Report: Doug Stubbe
1. Kathy Miller from the Northern District Office was introduced to the committee by Doug Stubbe. Miller is working in the District office two days a week while John Preissing is working on his PhD.
2. Michael Kornmann was asked to provide an update for the Committee regarding the Burnett County Strategic Plan progress. Kornmann reported the mission statement is close to being completed. There will be more meetings in the upcoming weeks.
3. Stubbe gave the Committee a general timeline for the Annual Report.
4. The Dean's & District Wislines tend to focus on the Governor's Budget and the combination chancellor position.
5. The figures are finally showing some agent expenses. This is part of trying to get into a cycle of the 15th of one month to the 15th of the following month.
6. The first CPAG meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00 pm in Room 165. Approximately 10 people have called in to say they will be there.
A. Agent Reports:
1. Basin Report
John Haack explained his program to the Committee and noted that he works out of the Spooner Ag Research Station. Haack provided a summary of his activities that are relating to Burnett County. He noted that he is conducting a workshop called Clean Boats- Cleans Water on June 24. Other mentioned activities included: assisting the Burnett County Lakes & Rivers Association with the regional NW Wisconsin Lake Conference at Telemark on June 24; writing and receiving a $6,600 Multi-Agency Land and Water Grant for farmer Nutrient Management Training in Burnett County; hosting a regional Storm Water education bus tour to the Twin Cities. Haack also noted he is doing a train the trainer program in regard to Rain Gardens.2. Community Resource Development
Mike Kornmann circulated a draft copy of The Connection, a newsletter created for the Burnett County Development Association to be sent to a mailing list of approximately 450 people. Kornmann also distributed a written report on his monthly activities.3. 4-H Youth Development
Doug Stubbe reported that both Marilyn Kooiker and he received awards for their newsletters. He received a team award that also credited the work of his support staff, Wanda Hinrichs. A written re-cap of Stubbe's activities for the month was also distributed.4. Family Living
A written report was submitted for Marilyn Kooiker on her activities.Grace Gee, Nutrition Coordinator for the WNEP Program, reported she is busy working on the 2006 grant.
Julie Yezek, WNEP Educator, had WIC Clinic on the day of this meeting. It was reported that Yezek and Doug Stubbe had a conversation regarding having a coordinator based in Burnett County. Marilyn Kooiker would be the coordinator and, if implemented, would become effective on October 1, 2005. This will be put on the agenda for next month's meeting.
A question was asked regarding what WNEP is doing for kids. Grace Gee explained what is being done.
C. Comments
Kathy Miller commented on the WACEC State Conference coming up June 26 -28. Auctions items are needed. Miller explained concerns with the budget and upcoming administration changes which could include the closing of the Ashland Station.

Next meeting date set for May 16, 2005.
