New! More information is now available online regarding the Shoreline Preservation and Restoration Programs.

Under the direction of the Burnett County Land and Water Conservation Committee of the Burnett County Board of Supervisors, the Land and Water Conservation Department administers the following programs:

A voluntary program to restore native plants near lake and river-front property. Technical assistance is available to interested landowners and financial assistance in the form of cost-sharing (70%-county/30%- landowner) is available on a first come, first serve basis. Why? - attract a greater diversity of wildlife, screen your view of the lake, reduce the time you spend maintaining your lawn, protect the quality of your lake!

A program serving Burnett, Polk and Washburn counties, which provides assistance for the commercial agricultural community. The program provides abatement and financial compensation for white-tail deer, black bear, canada goose and wild turkey damage to commercial seedlings, crops grown on agricultural land, damage to crops that have been harvested for sale or further use but have not been removed from the agricultural land, damage to orchard tree or nursery stock, apiaries and livestock.
