BUILDING AND SITE CONSTRUCTION

A permit for the construction of a building, addition, or other structures (to include a porch or deck) is required in all regulated areas of the county. Exempted from the requirement are accessory buildings which do not exceed 100 square feet in size, however, these structures must still comply with the setback requirements.

It must be remembered that some townships have their own permit requirements and should be contacted for information.

BEFORE A LAND USE/BUILDING PERMIT WILL BE ISSUED FOR A NEW DWELLING, THE BUILDING SITE IS T0 BE STAKED OUT SO A VERIFICATION MAY BE DONE.

The dimensions of the dwelling, including decks, porches, etc. are to be staked out. Lot lines must be referenced and driveway location with type of turnaround shown.

When the application is submitted to our office, the site may be inspected by staff in our office. We may have to verify the setbacks and driveway location, width and turnaround for compliance. The Driveway Ordinance and specifications is included as part of this site.

With the proper stake out we should eliminate any potential setback or dimension problems and still be able to get these permits issued in a timely manner.

WATER SUPPLY AND DISPOSAL

A permit is required in ALL, areas of the county for sanitary system installations, privy construction, and sanitary system repairs. All installation and repair work on a sanitary system must be performed by a plumber licensed in the State of Wisconsin, and the permit must be obtained by him. Generally, the first step to implement lot development is to arrange for site soils evaluation by a Certified Soil Tester.

A BUILDING PERMIT WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL AFTER THE NECESSARY SANITARY PERMIT IS ISSUED.
